Learning Made Real!
I believe that children learn best when they are actively doing, creating, and exploring things they already love. That is why I founded Learning in the Real World. As both a qualified teacher and a parent of children who have struggled in the traditional school system, I know firsthand that standard worksheets and rigid classrooms do not work for every mind. I don’t believe in recreating a stressful school environment at home. Instead, I offer a completely different kind of learning—one rooted in real-world experiences, genuine interests, and hands-on discovery. When children see a purpose to what they are learning, motivation follows naturally.
Learn It. Live It.
My Background & Expertise
I bring a unique blend of psychological insight, trauma-informed care, and global teaching experience to every student I support:
Academic Foundation: A degree in Psychology, giving me a deep understanding of cognitive development, motivation, and how young brains actually process information. A Special Educational Needs (SEND) diploma and training in PDA support in Education.
Expertise: A Qualified Teacher with years of experience leading mainstream primary classrooms, as well as specialised teaching within a SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) school.
Global & Digital Experience: Years of teaching internationally in Italy and working directly as an online tutor, adapting to diverse cultures and learning styles.
Specialised Care:
Comprehensive trauma-informed training, ensuring a safe, low-anxiety space where children feel completely regulated, seen, and supported.
My Teaching Philosophy
Every child is naturally curious; they just need the right spark. Because of my background, my primary goal isn't just academic progress—it is to boost self-esteem and rebuild confidence. In my sessions, you won't find rows of uninspired drills. Instead, you'll find learning driven by what your child loves. Whether we are calculating spatial volume inside Minecraft or decoding reading skills through an interest-led project, I focus on building foundational life skills. I teach the way children naturally flourish: through trial, error, creation, and real-world connection
